Firefighters, city prepare for arbitration proceedings

June 21, 2017, Mississauga, Ont. – The City of Mississauga and members of its Fire and Emergency Services department remain entrenched in a protracted labour dispute that could cost the city millions. Mississauga’s 701 unionized firefighters have been without a contract or a pay hike since December 2014. Unable to negotiate a settlement, the city and the Mississauga Firefighters Association (MFFA) have firmed up dates this winter to begin interest arbitration proceedings.
